One Round of 21 Day Fix Extreme and How I feel Changed...

Well, one thing I have grown to realize is everyone has different goals and commitments. My personal goals might not be the same as someone on my team...which is fine, I totally get that, but it isn't easy for me to enjoy a cheat day after I have worked so hard for 21 days of no cheats and following a strict protein diet (countdown to competition meal plan). My goals are surely not to be skinny...I work hard to get lean/toned. I have stepped up my game this summer and I am more focused now than ever before to build muscle and get shredded. I use to struggle with looking at others enjoying sweets, wine, uncontrolled portions...now, it doesn't even phase me. Want to know why?!?!  My goals are not the same as theirs...I'm prepping for a personal best and that makes me feel good. I don't get jealous anymore of watching people splurge or what others are enjoying because that isn't my enjoyment anymore...my enjoyment is made in the gym and eating clean in the kitchen.  I did cheat yesterday and not much fun to be honest...my happiness is reaching my goals and seeing results!!  I am not knocking anyone, we are all on different paths of our journeys...my journey right now is shredded and bulked with muscle. Who would have ever thought being 41 years old with 4 kids that this would be my journey?  I am in the best shape of my life and I only see myself building from here. I am happy with who I am and I hope others can respect that too!! So, with that to be said...I have some big goals to be made and I am pretty pumped at where I am currently at on my journey and I hope if anything comes out of this at all...it is that I can inspire someone to give it their all and to trust their journey. Many wonder how can I be happy when I live on such strict eating habits...guess what, I feel AMAZING and I have totally found a happiness in other areas of my life vs food and alcohol!! Again, it took me a year to get here...I had a love/hate relationship with wanting to cheat. Now, I win and can't wait to see what the next 6 months have ahead of me!!!

Stronger Each Day...

I will admit, day in and day out of intense workouts sometimes gets the best of you...however, you look at how far you have come and how can you just give up?!?!  Do you sometimes get bogged down in the day to day struggles of living life?  It is a lifestyle to incorporate a daily workout and you need to make it a non-negotiable. Of course, you can "plan" a day off and get by with it, but we can't have too many at any given time. Results come with hard work...once you get rid of the excuses and commit, you will see the results!!!

Are You a Dreamer?

I look back at my last year...my 40th year of my life is coming to a wrap and I honestly can't believe all I accomplished!!  I made the decision on my 40th birthday that I was ready to make a change and a commitment. I wanted to feel the best I ever felt and that's exactly what I did! My 1 year anniversary is only a week away and I'm overly excited to celebrate that I made my dream come true...not only did I change my life, but I have now touched nearly 80 other lives in my journey!! Wow, 80 people have changed their lifestyle and fitness journeys and that EXCITES me more than anything!! I hope to reach over 250 people next year at this time!! I offer amazing support, accountability and private challenge groups that support you every step of the way!!  Don't wish a year from now you started your journey...now is your time!!

Vacation or Not...

It doesn't matter if you are on vaca or not...I found a way to get my workouts in everyday. Now, here's the key...don't set yourself up for failure. Going into my trip I knew I was working out...I made sure there was a fitness center and I had workouts on my IPad (due to BeachBody On Demand) already planned out. Again this goes back to failing to plan is planning to fail!! I have gone on short trips before and knew that I was NOT going to workout and was good with that...having a game plan helps and sets you up for success. I couldn't stress this anymore...Plan, Plan, Plan!!!  So, the point of this post is to not set yourself up for failure. If you commit to a plan stick to it, but don't commit if you think you might or can fail.

Saturday Workout...

It feels so good to have your workout done on a Saturday...I just finished Phase 1 of Body Beast and can't believe how much my body has changed in just 21 Days! Yes, sounds similar to 21 Day Fix...Hard work, eating a clean diet and commitment is what these programs need to see success!! I feel great and to think being 40 (nearly 41), mom of 4 kids and only 5'1...I am gaining some awesome muscle!  I would highly recommend this program if you are at your goal weight...this is strictly to get toned/bulk up. If you want to join one of my fitness groups, please let me know!! I can't wait to see what Phase 2 of Body Beast brings on!!

Crazy Weekends

Yes, I know it is Tuesday and I am posting about a CRAZY weekend...I had a weekend full of travel, dinners, wine, friends and cheerleading!! Yes, I fit this all in 48-hours!! I got home late Sunday night and felt like crud yesterday.
However, while traveling I made sure I planned my cheats and made good food choices the whole weekend. Just because we get out of our normal routine doesn't mean we can go crazy and jump off the wagon...I ate according to my meal plan and saved my cheats for the evenings that were planned. So, next question is...Did I have fun living like that?  YES!!! I indulged in a planned dessert and had my glasses of wine and felt good about my choices. I wouldn't have felt good had I fell of the wagon and ate crap. I knew I wouldn't have planned workouts either...but I didn't set myself up for failure. Planning is key to any fitness plan/lifestyle. I did do my 10 min ab workout and felt great. Many people often set themselves up for failure by failing to plan!! I even view restaurant menus BEFORE I even step foot into a restaurant...I know exactly what I'm ordering!  So, my words of wisdom are failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

Strong is the new Skinny...

We often fall into this trap that we think we have to be super skinny...have you ever taken a side by side look at an athletic body vs a skinny body.  I want muscles...show me a toned body!! Of course, we don't want to be loose and flabby...but we can turn our flab into muscle!!  I think losing weight while building muscle is a great combination. I love an athletic woman...I'm inspired by these women and strive to have muscles and a toned body!  Don't fall into the "I must be skinny" mode...Strong is the New Skinny!!!!

A New Week is a New Start!!

Monday's are a MUST...Missing a Monday workout for me is a non-negotiable.  I tend to work out earlier in the morning too...this really helps get my mind in the right place.  I have just started Body Beast a week ago, this is week 2 and it is TOUGH!!! Legs have always been an issue for me, so this is important for me to get an extremely good leg day in.  This is a sneak peek at Body Beast Build Legs...if interested in more information, please message me!!

Sunday Funday

My Sunday's are often used as an active recovery day, BUT that doesn't necessarily mean to just lay on the couch and not do anything...I either incorporate Yoga or Pilates on my active recovery days.  However, this Sunday I felt the urge to crank it up a little...I did splurge on Sushi, a glass of wine and a delicous chocolate dessert last night.  So, I did Body Beast (a BeachBody program focused on weight lift training) Chest/Tris and 21 Day Fix Extreme, Plyo workout...I also did 10 mins abs.  My 10 min abs have been renamed by my Challenge Group as, Annette's Ab Remix...I will share my ab workout in an upcoming blog post!!
